A 2 1/2 mile walk with a local guide with multiple stops along the way. Walk down the towpath crossing over Chiswell Run, view and old stone wall where a canal store once was located, stop at lock 26 viewing the giant maple tree, view turtles in the canal, stop at a waste weir and walk to White's Ford, and look out across the Potomac River where Native American once crossed the Potomac River. During the civil war both the Union and Confederate troops crossed the ford. Please wear sturdy shoes and have a walking stick if necessary. Bring a water bottle, and snack/ lunch with you. This trip is recommended by the Nature Club.
