Glazing 101 with Christine Shadic October 19th 1-4pm This workshop will teach students the basics of glazing and will answer the following common glazing conundrums: How should I glaze this pot? Should I dip or should I pour? What if my pot doesn’t fit into the glaze bucket? Why don’t we have a red glaze? These and many other basic glaze questions will be answered during the workshop. We will also cover the following topics: -What are glazes composed of & how these materials give us different colors & surfaces. -Common glaze faults & problems, how they occur, and how to avoid them. -Decorating options including slips, underglazes, oxides, rubber stamping, underglaze pen and pencil, sgraffito, underglaze tissue, varnish resist, silkscreen lithography, masking tape resist, textured slip, and inlay, image transfer. Please bring 1-3 soft or leather hard pieces if you are interested in slip decorating and/or 3-4 bisqued pieces to glaze, and lots of glazing questions! Member: $30 Non- Member: $35
