Hydrate and cure with this twist on traditional lemonade. The recipe, which yields 1 quart, affords you all the benefits of the lemon with the natural sweetness of honey and woody essence of fresh rosemary.
Ingredients for the Lemonade
- 6 large lemons
- 1 cup rosemary-honey simple syrup (recipe follows)
- 2 cups water
- Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
Instructions
Juice the lemons into a pitcher. Whisk in the cooled simple syrup. Add the water and stir.Refrigerate for at least one hour. Serve over ice, with a sprig of rosemary for garnish.
Ingredients for the Simple Syrup
- 1 cup orange-blossom honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary, roughly chopped
Instructions
Whisk together the honey and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once the mixture is steaming (don't let it come to a boil), turn off the stove.
Place the rosemary in a tea-ball strainer or infuser, and float it in the simple syrup. Allow the simple syrup to cool completely. Remove the tea-ball infuser, and use the simple syrup in the lemonade recipe.
