Supporting Our Troops and Helping the Families They Leave Behind
Mugging for the camera somewhere in the Iraqi desert in the summer of '05
I am running in the Marine Corps' Marathon on Oct. 25th, 2009 to raise money for Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront provides emergency & morale assistance for our troops, the families they leave behind and for the wounded warriors when they return home. They not only provide aid to families struggling with emergencies, but also with the problems of everyday life. Having friends that have been wounded and having experienced some of these challenges personally as a Marine who has deployed 3 times, I can't think of a better way to give back. Please help in assisting me to raise money for a noble and honorary cause.

Team Operation Homefront is hosting a team of 100+ runners at the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon. The members of our third annual team at the “People’s Marathon” in Arlington, VA have set a Team Contribution Goal of $150,000! You can support a specific runner at the top of the page, or choose to support the whole team by using the “Make a Contribution” box at the bottom of the page. Any amount you are able to contribute is greatly appreciated.

Raising awareness for Operation Homefront is equally as important as raising funds. Please click on the “Invite Others to Contribute” button to forward this page to friends and family, even if you are unable to contribute at this time.

Operation Homefront Mission Statement

Operation Homefront provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind and to wounded warriors when they return home. A nonprofit 501(c)(3), Operation Homefront leads more than 4,500 volunteers in 30 chapters nationwide and has provided critical assistance to more than 45,000 military families in need. Operation Homefront also operates OH Online, an e-magazine and cyber gathering spot for military wives and women in uniform. Through this community, we reach the newest and youngest military families. It's how we provide them with information about our programs and resources to help them succeed in military life. How We Help

Operation Homefront provides aid to families struggling not only with emergencies, but also with the problems of everyday life. Existing programs include:

  • Wounded Warriors - free transitional housing for wounded warriors and their families; Wounded Warrior Wives support groups; other assistance to help them adjust to their new civilian life
  • Emergency Aid — Provides food, baby care items, vehicle donation and repair.
  • Computer Program — Allows children and spouses to stay in touch with their loved ones.
  • Financial Assistance Program — Addresses crises such as illness, homelessness and death.
  • Furniture Program — Donates household and baby furniture; working-order appliances.
  • Moving — Provides physical labor for families when a service member is deployed.
  • Social Outreach — Offers Adopt-a-family opportunities, Thanksgiving/holiday baskets, back-to-school supplies.
  • Community — Rebuilds the challenged social network of the military community by bringing it to our online magazine where it is convenient to everyone, no matter the time or location.

Some of our most outstanding accomplishments are:

  • We received the prestigious Charity Navigator’s 4-Star rating for conscientious stewardship.
  • We donated more than $5 million to military families in crisis.
  • We provided goods and services valued at more than $6.5 million to assist military families.
  • We delivered more than 20,000 care packages to soldiers abroad.
  • We delivered more than 2,500 packages to military families at home.
  • We delivered more than 20,000 backpacks to military children headed back to school.
  • We operate only on 8 percent overhead; 92 cents of every dollar raised directly supports those in need.

Operation Homefront is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Donations are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Donating Online is the most efficient method of supporting Operation Homefront (saving time and money for the organization), but checks are accepted. Please 2009 MCM Check Donation Form and mail the check and completed form to the address on the form.
