"Never underestimate what a simple gesture can do.
It is the little things that you do that make a big difference in other people's lives."

My husband and I have spent a lot of time hiking in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. In August of 2006, we climbed over 10,000 feet of Mount Fuji in Japan; what an amazing experience! This year we have decided to take on a new kind of challenge; we’ve joined
Hike for Discovery
, an endurance hiking program which benefits The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Daily training and weekly hikes with our teammates and coach prepared us for a journey to the Grand Canyon on May 17, 2008.
I hiked in honor of a seven year old boy named Jake Franchi of West Sand Lake, NY. He is currently undergoing treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia; this is the most common type of leukemia in children under age 15. Jake was diagnosed in September of 2004, when he was only three years old.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
(LLS) is making significant advances in the treatment of patients with blood cancers. Through generous contributions they are able to provide research funding, advocacy, education and patient support services. The LLS is on a mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease and myeloma. Because they receive no federal funding, they depend on donations for continued support of these needed programs.
I have personally committed to raising $5,400 for The LLS in honor of Jake and others like him. Please help me to reach my goal! Donating on-line is fast, easy, secure and 100% tax deductable.
I truly appreciate your support and encouragement!
Thank You,
Heather Nusbaum
