| Help me support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! This is a cause that's very close to my heart: several of my friends and acquaintances are battling blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's lymphoma). The LLS does really wonderful things for them. Almost immediately after one friend's oncologist told her she had myeloma, folks from the LLS were right there, providing support, information, and help with the tangential costs (like parking and transportation) that really add up, especially on top of medical bills.
Another friend is battling lymphoma for the second time. This time, she's being treated by a new drug developed by Genentech that is less toxic than the chemo she went through the first time. The research that went into developing that drug was funded in part by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Please help me raise money to help all those who are battling blood cancers and to help find a cure. |

Welcome to my Albertson’s Bay to Breakers/Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s home page. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
I'm participating in Albertson’s Bay to Breakers in honor of more than 712,000 Americans who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help accelerate cures and provide hope and support for patients and their families.
Did you know that:- Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies.
- Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young people under age 20.
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
- The myeloma survival rate is only 32 percent.
