| My name is Joanna García and I will be running in the Nike Women's Marathon on October 19, 2008 in San Francisco, Ca. I have run marathons in the past but this is my first time raising money for a cause. I think this is long over due.
I will be running to raise money for Corazon de Vida. Corazon de Vida or
Heart of Life is a non-profit organization that is committed to empowering and changing the lives of the orphaned and abandoned children in Baja, Mexico. About a year ago, my friend Melissa invited me to spend a day at an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. It was truly an amazing and life changing experience. I met children that had so little and yet were willing to open up their hearts to us. After I left the orphanage, I realized there was so much that needed to be done. We need to give a voice to the voiceless. It is up to us to light a candle of hope in the lives of these children. And so I write to you to ask for a donation to raise money for Corazon de Vida. I know that together we can make a difference and light up even more candles in the world. Thank you for your time and consideration!!
