| After our son Alex’s recent diagnosis with celiac disease, we made it our mission to partner with a charity to raise awareness.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects nearly 1 in 100 people and is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. The only treatment for celiac disease is a strict gluten free diet.
The Celiac Disease Foundation was an enormous resource for us in the first months after the diagnosis and since then we have become members and are focusing our energy on raising funds and creating a local support group. The Celiac Disease Foundation’s mission is to raise awareness and provide education, advocacy, and support services to individuals and families affected by celiac disease.
