Running to Honor Uncle Alexander Santos' Memory
You’ve arrived at Aurora’s web page. Thanks for stopping by!
Call me crazy! I am, but you gotta try anything once! I’m proud to say that I am training for a marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training in memory of my Uncle Alex.
Three years ago, I learned that my Uncle Alex was battling cancer. Apparently, Uncle Alex kept his illness secret for 10 years! Only his wife and his two youngest children, Rita and Alex Jr., knew. Uncle Alex wanted to keep his life as normal as possible. Although his pace had slowed a bit from the treatment, he still danced the Samba on his 70th birthday and enjoyed an occasional Caiparinha, an exotic Brazilian drink.
My Uncle lost his courageous battle in November 2003, a few months after his birthday. I am so glad that I attended his last birthday bash. I was able to dance and spend time with him.
I'm completing this marathon in memory of my brave Uncle Alex and in honor of all those individuals who are battling blood cancers. Help me to raise funds to prevent others, like my Uncle Alex, from dying.
I would be honored if you would support me by making a donation to Team In Training and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All donations are 100% tax deductible and 75% of the money raised goes directly to research. I've committed to raising $3,900 so any contribution you make is a GREAT help!
