A Taste of Humour In Canadian Fiction

Kamloops Sports Council Clubhouse • 1550 Island Parkway Dr. KamloopsBCCanada  V2B 0H7 Organized by Kamloops Adult Learners Society

About this event

Canadian fiction has long been informed by humour and satire, particularly in the past half-century , a time of monumental growth and recognition for our literature. We will explore works that cover a broad comic spectrum, with emphasis on the interplay of humour and satire. Our two novels are The Best Laid Plans (2006) by Terry Fallis (a satire of Canadian politics) and Molly of the Malls (2019) by Heidi L.M. Jacobs (which manages to satirize contemporary consumer culture, the traditional romance novel, and and academic pretensions both historical and contemporary). These novels will be available through the instructor, who will contact registrants with details before the class begins. Shorter works will be introduced and made available in our first class.
