The Odyssey—the story of Odysseus’ journey home—we all know it but not so many of us have read it. Western culture is littered with references to its hero and to his exploits, some of them clearly fantastic, such as his encounters with the Sirens or with the Cyclops. This class is an opportunity to, at last, read Homer’s epic work in its entirety with enough supportive background to provide a framework for our greater understanding. Many readers say that The Odyssey is the greatest story ever told. Some even say it’s the only story. That it contains the pattern of all our lives. Join this class and find out.
