About this event
Rock music was a vital part of the societal transformations of the 1950s and 60s. This course will look at the history of rock music during its developmental phase (1955-1995) as well as distinctive features of rock music, such as the use of amplification, the relation to dance, the use of the recording studio, and how performance style affects the meaning of a song. We will also look at the roles of women, race and sexuality. Audio and video clips will supplement the lectures and discussion.
