Is your garden looking a little lonely? Here's how to make cute garden animals with supplies from around the house. All you need are rocks and imagination. This project is suitable for children ages 4 and up.
First, paint the rocks white and allow them to dry. This base coat creates a blank slate that allows the colors on top to pop. If you skip this step, your colors won't show as brightly on darker rocks.
Paint the rocks to resemble various garden creatures. For example, you may choose a butterfly or a ladybug. To make a caterpillar, paint multiple rocks to use as "links" in the caterpillar's body.
Once dry, take the rocks outside to a safe place in the garden and arrange them in their new home. Be sure to choose a place that won't be in the way of the lawnmower.
