Kids Craft Ideas: Tic-Tac-Toe Rocks

Written by
Tic-tac-toe is a fun game for children of all ages. To build your own version for a backyard or sidewalk game, all you need are some rocks from the garden. This craft involves searching and matching rocks, painting simple shapes and playing the classic game with family or friends. This project is suitable for children ages 4 and older.

You will need:

- 10 rocks
- Two different colors of paint
- A paintbrush

First, collect the appropriate types of rocks. You will want 10 rocks of similar size with a circular top. The rocks should be fairly smooth and able to lie flat without wobbling.
Step 2

Select one paint color and paint half of the rocks with Xs. With the other color, paint the remaining rocks with Os. For a fun twist on the game, you could also paint initials (i.e. As and Bs for Abby and Ben).

Next, draw your board. You can use a picnic table (pictured), a stump, a brick stepping stone or simply the sidewalk. Challenge siblings, parents or friends to your first game. Store your rocks in a safe place when you're finished playing so you can use them again later.
