About This Activity

Description

Join expert instructor Julie Browning for a fun family bike ride through Lake Oswego! At least one adult or guardian is required to join, though additional are welcome. All participants must have a properly fitting, well-maintained bike and a functional helmet. The ride covers 6+ miles with occasional stops for rest and instruction.

Registration is only for the youth participants. Upon registration, please answer the accompanying question with how many adults will be joining along for the ride..

Participants will meet at George Rogers Park before beginning the group ride. Full activity details and an itinerary will be provided via email prior to the start of this activity.

This Class has SAFETY and EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

In order to provide the safest possible environment for class participants, please make sure that:

1. Participant bikes are in good working order. Please make sure that brakes are working and shifting (gears) is also working. Make sure tires and brakes are not worn. Note: if the bike needs work, local bike shops may need a week to complete the work. Please budget this into getting the bike class-ready.

2. Participant bikes have more than one gear. We will be climbing up hills.

3. Participant bikes have a front wheel and rear wheel hand brake. No coaster brakes.

4. Participant bikes have tires with knobby tread suitable for riding off-road.

5. Participant bikes are a good fit. A bike too big or too small can pose safety concerns.

6. Participants have a helmet that fits correctly. Helmets need to be free of cracks and damage. Helmets need to be worn correctly (i.e., covering the forehead)

If instructors feel that a participant’s bike or helmet are not safe, they will not be allowed to ride during class.
