This three hour long program will introduce you to basic fly rod casting techniques, fly selection, fly characteristics, and the different fishing water characteristics encountered in freshwater environments in NC as well the game fish found within them. The program will begin at Dogwood Shelter for the classroom portion before we walk to locations along the lakeshore for casting lessons, following this we will be wading and fishing in the lake!
Please bring sunscreen, sunglasses , a hat, and *comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for wading in the lake. Feel free to bring your personal fly fishing equipment, however there will be enough fly rods and equipment provided by the park to use during the program.
*Waders are recommended
Meet at the Dogwood Shelter which is the 5th RIGHT after you enter the park. Be prepared to walk to various locations for the hands-on portion of the program.
