B1.3 Objectives:

  • Understand the arguments in a discussion
  • Understand and comment on societal affairs
  • Express a complaint
  • Understand/write a petition/a formal letter
  • Express my indignation or objection
  • Use a past event as a cause
  • Reproach someone
  • Express or report a point of view on a controversial subject
  • Understand the main points of a discussion
  • Express reservations
  • Express a judgment, make recommendations, and warnings
  • Inform myself on/ describe an object, a novelty, or a mode of communication
  • Respond in a written form to an announcement / ask for more detailed information on a service
  • Choose a type of letter (i.e. formal, friendly etc.) and formulate it

B1.4 Objectives:
  • Talk about my daily consumption of goods
  • Characterize an object or a service
  • Formulate an e-mail about a complaint
  • Discuss and negotiate the price of something
  • Recall someone else's words
  • Warn someone

Before starting this course, you should have completed level B1.2 or been assessed at level B1.3 through a placement test, within 6 months of the beginning of the course. You need the Cosmopolite 2 textbook and exercise book for this course. Cosmopolite 2 textbook and exercise book will be used for levels A2.4 to B1.3. The Entre Nous 3 text and exercise book will be used for levels B1.4 to B1.7.
