Instructor: Jim Tisaranni is a 1964 graduate of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. He served on a submarine in the Navy for 29 years. His assignments included WWII diesel-powered boats to command of the most advanced nuclear-powered submarines and multiple staff positions. Description: Session 1: Submarine history focusing on the submarine battle in the Pacific, where the American force overcame arcane tactics and inadequate weapons to shut down Japan’s commerce, which played a significant role in winning the war. Session 2: Will focus on the Sea Wolf SSN21 operation and revolutionary construction methodology. Session 3: Will present today’s Ohio Class Trident submarine operations and submariner selection, training and application. Session 4: Will discuss today’s and tomorrow’s force structure, missions, and all-world capability.
