Description
The French Library is pleased to welcome Léonore Chaix, writer and performer of the theater piece La Femme à qui rien n’arrive (“The Woman to whom Nothing Happens”), presented at the Huntington Theatre. With the direction of Anne Le Guernec, who will also join us as moderator of the panel discussion, the event offers a rare insight into the artistic journey of both the performer and the director as they bring this one-of-a-kind production to life. This preview at the French Library is co-organized with The French Theater Project ahead of the full performance at the Huntington Theatre from November 8-10, 2024.La Femme à qui rien n’arrive is an absurdist comedy. It tells the story of a woman whose only goal is to accomplish her irreducible daily tasks at the robotic pace dictated by “the Machine.” Taken in by an online advertisement, she suddenly faces her greatest fear—that something should actually happen to her. This modern fairy tale will entertain you with its zany, sharp humor, while also keeping you on edge as it explores themes of control, routine, and the unexpected.
Our author's talk will be followed by a Q&A session and a glass of wine.
In-person event in English.
