Active Minds: The Mississippi RiverThe Mississippi River is the third largest watershed in the world, beginning at Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota and stretching over 2,000 miles to the Gulf of Mexico near New Orleans. It has been home to many Native American tribes and served as an important transportation route and rich agricultural area throughout North American history.
