About this event
10 wks Experience Level: All Levels How does a picture communicate an idea? A feeling? A movement? A joke? This project-based course will spotlight foundational concepts and strategies in the world of illustration, providing students with the opportunity to develop both their skills and their styles in a variety of genres and media. Projects will prompt students to explore spatial relationships, guide the eye confidently through a picture, balance lights, and darks, and communicate clearly through symbolism. We will pull content from graphic design, picture book illustration, advertisement, character design, and comics and graphic novels, and explore versatile media like ink, cut paper, and colored pencil (like you’ve never seen it before!). Students will be encouraged to experiment, play, and explore - while also developing their own unique "voice" in the language of illustration.
