About this event
10 wks Experience Level: Beginner This introductory-level course is designed to give students a broad foundation of drawing skills, including shading and volume, negative space, drawing objects from life, judging proportion, working from reference images, and more. Students will be introduced to a number of classic drawing media, including charcoal, the classic #2 pencil, crowquill (dip pen), and ink. In addition to these skills, the course will teach students to see their subjects with an artist’s eye - first focusing on observing reality accurately, and then expanding into composing pictures beautifully, compellingly, and through their own unique styles and sensibilities. Perfect for beginners or more experienced artists who want to reconnect with the basics. Students interested in advancing their skill level are encouraged to sign up for Drawing II in Winter 2025
