Heroes in Harmony: An Adventure Through African-American History By Patsy Ford Simms Join us on a musical journey through history as we celebrate eight extraordinary African Americans who changed the world with their contributions to music, inventions, sports, and science! From the smooth sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and the groundbreaking compositions of Scott Joplin to the ingenuity of Garrett Morgan and Benjamin Banneker, and the legendary achievements of Jessie Owens, Ora Mae Washington, George Washington Carver, and Daniel Hale Williams—this show brings their stories to life through music and song. Class Details Open to: Students in K–5th grade Program Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 14–Feb. 25, from 3:30–5:15 PM No more than one planned absence will be accepted Showcase Performance: Tuesday, March 5, at 6:00 PM for a limited audience Location: Belmont Arts Collaborative, 221 Carlton Rd Students will build confidence in singing, acting, and movement while working together to produce a memorable musical showcase. Registration Notes: This class is free for students already registered for Tuesday YAS, pending approval and space availability. Students outside YAS are welcome to join for a fee (choose the fee that best fits your financial needs) Please do not register if you plan more than one absence.
