This event has ended.

About this event

Learn about Chattanooga Zoo's local conservation work! Dr. Freake, professor of biology at Lee University, will lead this installation of the Conservation Committee Speaker Series. Dr. Freake, along with several other community partners, plays a key role in our Hellbender Headstart program! Hellbender Headstart is our biggest local conservation initiative, and we're leading the way in repopulating an important salamander species that is rapidly disappearing in our region. Join us to learn more about the program, the importance of hellbender salamanders as an "indicator species," and our most recent hellbender release in which we reintroduced 61 salamanders back into the wild last May! This free after-hours special event will take place in our Education Center, and does not include admission or access to the zoo.
