About this event
Young Filmmakers starts with an exploration of fundamentals, including the dynamics of film vs. video, lighting, and discussions and viewings of students’ favorite content creators. This is supplemented with shorts made in different forms from all around the world. From there, most of our time together is spent learning or improving basic hands-on production techniques, including GIF production, stop motion, and computer animation. Stories are then developed through brainstorming, individually and in groups, scripts are created and rehearsed, and sets and costumes are constructed. Before recording the various shots that make up the scenes of their movies, roles are assigned, and students improve their teamwork skills as they delegate and perform the various duties needed to produce their ideas. Returning students will refine their skills and explore integrations of animation and live action.
