Ever wanted to learn how to coal forge? Whether you are a beginner or are an experienced smith who is looking for a new challenge, this is the class for you! Welcome the cooler weather by forging your own leaves! Come discover how to smith a variety of traditional leaf styles, while learning proper coal forging technique and fire management. By the end of the 3-hour class, students will be able to: - Recognize heat changes by the color of the metal (an extra challenge in an outdoor coal forge!) -Taper stock to form leaf shapes. -Use a cross-peen hammer to fan out metal. -Work with chisels and other tools to create intricate details. -Apply different hammer techniques to create a variety of leaf patterns. Get ready to get your hands dirty and have an absolute blast!! Because we may be forging outside, be sure to bring jackets, sunscreen, hats, and any other desired sun protection.
