Description
$20 LAB FEE DUE AT FIRST CLASSLearn the fundamentals of working with book board, card stock, and paper to bind journals, albums, and construct boxes. Students will learn various binding structures and related techniques including how to make book cloth, painted paper, and collage. There are 6 sessions throughout the year, and each will have a different focus. Beginners are welcome time to sign up at any. Students with experience may work on their own projects.
Session 6: Create a set of four journals, each sewn with a different Japanese Stab Binding. You will make a stab binding sampler using cardstock jigs secured with a ring. After the basics are covered, we will explore creating our own designs. Soft cover techniques will include embossing and window cutouts. Hard cover will be hinged to make scrap books and ledgers.

· Ledgers- easy to bind gifts.
Experience: Beginners/Intermediate/Advanced
binets for materials: thread, small weights, adhesives, cutting mats, papers, and book board.

Metal Ruler (18” recommended)
Scissors (non-stick coating recommended)
Bookbinder Needle #18 blunt

Notes:
Lab fee of $20.00 is due at the first week of class. Your fee will cover waxed linen thread, assortment of text weight paper, card stock, decorative papers, book board, art boards, artist grade papers, book cloth, PVA glue and paste, ribbon.
