Description
In this Advanced Knitting course, participants will learn everything they need to knit their first garment. This course will NOT cover basic knitting skills as part of the instruction. As this is an advanced course, participants should be comfortable with the following skills: knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting flat, knitting in-the-round, picking up stitches, and reading a knitting pattern. The course will begin with an overview of common knitted garment constructions, what measurements you need, and how to select a garment project. Following this, participants will need to select a pattern and procure the required materials. As participants get into the swing of knitting their garments, this course will shift from heavy instruction into more of a “knitting circle” as participants each work on their selected projects. Garments take a long time to knit, but the expectation is that the participant will have the majority of a garment knitted in this 10 week period and be relatively comfortable and confident with finishing the garment on their own time following the conclusion of this course (depending on your speed and your ability to knit in your free time you may finish during the course but it is not expected).
