Welcome to the HEMA Beginner Longsword Class! In this class, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of using the longsword, one of the most iconic and versatile weapons of Historical Europe. This class is designed to be both fun and challenging, with a focus on safety, camaraderie, and personal growth. Everyone is welcome, whether you have previous martial arts experience or are completely new to this practice. Get ready for a fun and challenging experience as you begin your journey into the exciting world of Historical fencing. We ask that you purchase a basic pair of Lacross gloves to use for these sessions. You can find an inexpensive pair at most used sporting goods stores. Groin/pelvis protection is highly encouraged, lobloo or similar is recommended. We will provide steel longswords, boffers, and masks for your use. No other protective equipment will be necessary for you to fully participate in our classes. Please be sure to wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes or similarly active-use footwear to ensure your safe movement on the gymnasium surface. While we won't be doing sprints, longsword training has the wonderful side benefit of utilizing your whole body for proper mechanics and offers an easy to moderate workout depending on your level of investment. Hydration and caloric intake are also highly recommended to prepare you for the class's dynamic exercises. There is a $100 Fee/$120 Non-Resident
