Introduction to Oil Painting: Alla Prima with Takeyce Walter

Organized by Lake Placid Center for the Arts

About this event

Join renowned artist Takeyce Walter in this immersive workshop designed for both beginners and seasoned painters eager to explore a fresh approach to oil painting. This class focuses on the alla prima (wet-on-wet) technique, where you'll learn how to complete a painting in one session by painting in a direct manner. Takeyce will guide you step-by-step through the fundamentals of working with oils, covering essential techniques like color mixing, brush handling, and creating rich textures. Whether you're a beginner discovering oil painting for the first time or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a new approach to help you capture your vision on canvas with confidence and spontaneity. Feel free to use your favorite brushes if you have them. Palette Butcher tray palette, wooden palette, or your preferred set-¬‐up Disposable palette paper (wax paper from the supermarket works fine as well)*optional A palette is a surface to hold and mix your paints. I use a butcher tray palette and at times a traditional sealed wooden palette. Painting Surfaces Canvas paper Cotton or Linen stretched canvas or panels in varying sizes
