About this event
Adult advisor: Alyce Moy Email: alycemoy@gmail.com Dates: Every Thursday with the first meeting on 9/5 and the last meeting on 5/1 Time: 4:15 PM–5:30 PM Grades: 6–12 Cost: $250 Description: Tackling the fallout of the debt crisis on the developing world, debating the efficacy of deforestation solutions on national economics, exploring solutions and actions for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are just a few examples of topics that you can explore as a member of the BIF MUN team. Experience policy-making first-hand at MUN conferences where you can collaborate with others from around the country and the world in committee. Whether huddled in breakout rooms or holding court in committee session, you will have plenty of opportunities to exercise your speaking, debate and leadership skills throughout the year. Weekly club time will be devoted to diving deeper into international issues as you spend time preparing to represent countries as delegates at regional MUN conferences, by honing your research, debate, negotiation, and writing skills. Participating students are required to attend at least three conferences over the course of the year as well as contribute to club operations. This season, the team expects to send delegates to a number of conferences that would be appropriate to delegates’ experience and grade level: High School - BMUN Workshop (Oct.), GMUNC (Oct.), Stanford MUN (Nov.), SFMUN (Dec.), Berkeley MUN (Mar.), SBMUN (Apr.) Middle School - BMUN Workshop (Oct.), BIF MUN (Nov.), d.mun (Jan.), Stratford-BIF MUN (Mar.). Additional costs may be applied through Active during the school year.
