Adult advisor: Kira Laquidara Email: kira.laquidara@basisindependent.com Student Advisor: Sahiti, Diya Dates: Every Thursday with the first meeting on 9/12 and the last meeting on 4/24 Time: High School Lunch Grades: 9–12 Cost: $325 Description: This is a UN initiative to increase gender equality worldwide. This is the second year this club will be offered, and in the past year we have helped multiple amazing initiatives including fundraisers in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Research Fund, a Women in STEM panel for the BIF community on International Women in STEM day, a Women in History easter egg hunt, and are even collaborating with an unhoused shelter in Berkeley to create a community-wide mural, funded by the Berkeley Arts Grant, promoting gender equality that is being featured in a documentary. We have many fun events planned for the next year as well, including tackling period poverty in homelessness through kits, leadership development and self-defense workshops, awareness campaigns, exciting new collaborations and more! There will be a middle school leadership board and a high school leadership board to run the corresponding lunch meetings.
