Six IN-PERSON Sessions September 18, 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23 In this course, the science and history of climate will be emphasized. There is strong evidence that the climate around the earth has been undergoing a change. Because of this, part of the course will introduce participants to the evidence of that change, and what is causing the changes that are occurring. Some historical information will be presented, as well as potential future outcomes. Participants will work with partner(s) using dry erase boards to develop class discussions. Some of the science topics that will be included are; the relationship between heat and temperature, measuring temperature and determining heat content, the makeup of the atmosphere of earth, the greenhouse effect, development of greenhouses, measuring carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere, ice cores, radioactivity, and more. Frank Lock has been retired since 2009, after teaching secondary chemistry, physics and astronomy for 35 years. He has taught BULLI courses since 2017, most recently a Space Science course. He was recognized as 2205 Teacher of the Year in Charlotte County, FL. He has been a Climate Reality Project Leader since 2019.
