Tennessee MedWAR
MedWAR is short for Medical Wilderness Adventure Race. It is a unique event that combines wilderness medical challenges with the growing sport of adventure racing. The race was also developed as a tool for teaching and testing the knowledge, skills, and techniques of wilderness medicine, and for promoting teamwork and collegiality among competitors. MedWAR is sanctioned by North American Educational Adventure Racing (NAEAR).

Race Location: Cumberland Gap, TN
Brief Description: LMU-DCOM is proud to present the MedWAR Tennessee race, Dawn of the Walkers.
Brief Registration Info: Sign up for the rest now on the MedWAR website, registration for 20 teams will fill fast!
Race Format: Map and compass oriented adventure race with backcountry medical scenarios and questions. Will include hiking, walking, and biking!
Capacity: 20 teams of three members
Fees: Fee will be $150 per team or $50 per member
Cancellation policy: 50% refund until 2 weeks before the race. No refund less than 2 weeks before the race. Team members may be substituted at anytime until check-in on Race Day but must notify the Race Directors ahead of time.
Deadline: November 5 (T-shirt size not guaranteed after 10/30)

What's included continued: Prizes for first and second place team.
Event shirt detail: Each racer will have the option to submit their size and receive a race day shirt custom shirt. The winners of the race will also receive a moisture wicking shirt.
Brief description of venue: The race will take place on the Lincoln Memorial Campus in Harrogate, TN, and in the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. The park covers over 20,00 acres and is situated in three states (Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia)

Driving Directions: Coming from Kentucky you will take 25E through the Cumberland Gap tunnel with the school then on the west side of the road after the tunnel. Coming from Tennessee you will arrive via 25E and the school again will be on the west side of the road. You will come to town either via 25E or 63. If you are coming through Virginia will arrive to 25E via 58.
Parking Information: Parking will take place at Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine building on the LMU campus.
Accommodations: Camping is located in the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park but is limited and could be cold in November. The town just north in Kentucky has multiple hotels to stay in.
Race Schedule: The race will start Saturday November 12th morning at 8 AM with four flights on five teams each hour. The last call for the race will end at 6 PM. Registration will be the Friday night before at the DCOM school. Food will be provided the morning of the race, a light lunch will be available as well as post race dinner celebration.
Required Team Equipment: Orienteering compass., UTM grid square., Ink pen., CPR face mask., Water detoxification method., Wilderness medical and survival kit.
Required Individual Equipment: Dry change of clothes and rain gear., Whistle., Light source with extra batteries., Food, water, and the ability to carry 2 liters., A sense of adventure.
Required Gear List continued: Bike will be provided but they are welcome to bring their own. NOT a road bike.
Camping: Optional tent camping is available 5-10 minutes from race start on Friday before race day and Saturday evening following the race. Please select the camping option during registration if you would like to join us the campground. Space is limited so camping will be limited to registered racers only.
For those registered to camp, check in will be at Group Campsite 08 anytime on Friday. Quiet time is from 10pm-6am for those arriving late.
