Our goal is to get our classes on the water as frequently as possible, but we are constrained by limitations outside our control. With particular attention on weather (temperature, wind, precipitation, visibility), river conditions (height, speed, and amount of debris), and the athletes' ages and ability levels coaches will make the judgment on the safety of getting on the water for a given session. Always be prepared and dress/pack for both possibilities. Coaches will not force athletes who feel uncomfortable/ unsafe to go on the river; depending on whether there is an assistant coach, athletes who prefer to erg may need to do so without coaching (if the majority of athletes prefer to go outside). Anticipate that practices early in the season are likely to be on land and that as we get further and further into April practices are more and more likely to be on the water.
