Have you been thinking about researching your family tree but aren’t sure where to start? Or are you confused about which genealogical sites are best for you? Then this beginner workshop is perfect for you. As a professional genealogist, I’ll guide you through the process and help you confidently begin your journey into genealogy. II – I Started My Tree ... Now What? (What do I do with all the information I find?) Bring your laptop! In this workshop, we’ll focus on expanding your family tree by discovering both blood ancestors and extended family. We’ll work on collecting accurate, reliable data, and I’ll share valuable tips and alternate sites where you can uncover even more information about your ancestors. This workshop will teach you how to use and attach the following records to your family tree: Family Data Sheets Census Reports and other Historical Records Cemetery Data Bases – Headstones, Death Certificates and Obituaries Newspaper articles Military Records Personal stories and photographs III – Help I’m STUCK! Stuck on an ancestral brick wall? This workshop is designed to help you break through those roadblocks by teaching you how to utilize Family Tree Hints, connect with other researchers working on your line, tap into your ancestral site community, and explore alternate data sites and FamilySearch chat groups. We’ll also dive into how DNA can help expand your tree, using DNA Matches and Thru-lines to uncover missing grandparents, living DNA cousins, and common ancestors. Bring your laptops! You’ll have time to work on your tree with me available to answer questions, help you get unstuck, or assist in finding that elusive ancestor.
