Jan. 24-26 · Intro to Woodworking: Build a Bookcase

Hammerstone Ithaca • 720 West Green Street IthacaNY  14850 Organized by Hammerstone: Carpentry for Women, LLC

About this event

Woodworking is usually considered a more refined skill than carpentry. Using the skills developed in this class, students will be prepared to work on small furniture projects, as well as do finer carpentry work such as interior trim. In this class, students will develop finer measuring, cutting and joinery techniques, and will be exposed to more precision tools. This class is organized around the construction of a bookcase. A bookcase is a useful piece of furniture that allows us to delve into detailed woodworking skills such as precision measuring, marking and cutting, as well as introductory joinery techniques. Our bookcases are built out of eastern white pine using dado joinery. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission
