Overview: Basic Carpentry Skills 102 courses serve as a review and opportunity to practice the basic carpentry concepts learned in our 101 class. We will review layout, cutting, and fastening, all while building an elevated planter box that students will take home after class. These skills are highly transferable to a wide range of carpentry, woodworking, and DIY projects. After this course, students will feel refreshed on their ability to safely use a range of hand and power tools and will understand the fundamentals of construction. The 2-day Basic Carpentry Skills 101 course is a prerequisite for this class. Project description: Students will build their own elevated planter box out of 1x and 2x material as well as plywood. The planter box serves as a good refresher of cross-cutting, ripping, cutting angles, and using plywood. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
