Middle school students in grades 6-8 are invited to join us on Saturday, November 23, 2024, for a day of learning and service at the Jacksonville Humane Society! Participants will learn about how the adoption process works at JHS as well as strategies and tools we use to digitally and in person to help the pets in the shelter find homes. We'll complete a variety of projects designed to help promote our pets for adoption both online and in the shelter, with a special focus on our long stay pets. Service projects may include: - creating adoption posters to promote our pets in the shelter - decorating bandanas to hang on the pets kennels - making portraits of our long stay pets In addition to completing a variety of service projects, participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with a JHS dog and JHS kittens or cats. All participants will be awarded 4 community service hours at the end of the day. Drop-off and pickup: Drop-off is from 10:45 - 11:00 a.m. and pickup is from 3:00 - 3:15 p.m. All participants MUST be signed in and out by a parent/guardian. A Papa John's pizza lunch will be provided to all participants. What to bring: - water bottle - a love of pets! What to wear: - comfortable clothing that can get messy - closed-toe shoes that cover the foot completely
