Description
Explore the magical parkland known as Brushy Peak Regional Preserve. This hike covers approximately 4-miles over dirt and rocky trails with an elevation gain of 800+ feet, reaching the summit of the peak. The hike includes an exploration of unique sandstone rock formations, introduction to the Native Ohlone, Bay Miwok and Delta Yokuts cultures associated with the site, and opportunity to view the plants and animals that live or visit this area.Participants must stay with the group. Under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Canceled if raining. Trip ending timing is an estimation – depends on hiking speed of group and how much exciting stuff we stop to check out! Carpooling encouraged.

Please bring: sturdy, comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots; windbreaker and/or jacket (all weather conditions); water bottle (at least two quarts per person); hat and sunscreen (recommended); long pants and/or insect repellent (recommended) (if you choose long pants on a hot day, lightweight pants would be more comfortable than heavy pants or jeans); gaiters, rain pants etc., to keep you dry if it has rained recently; binoculars and/or hand lenses (optional); camera (optional); favorite field guides (optional); container to carry out your trash (no garbage cans at park); a pack to carry all the above.
