Please note: This club is scheduled to meet every other week. International Cultures Club is a year-round club that allows members to participate in all kinds of culture-oriented activities, helping with personal growth and community building of the school. Club members host discussions featuring different topics about cultures around the world. A few examples of the discussion include "fashion around the world", "personal space and how it changes around the world" (we even did a little experiment to find the most comfortable distance for BASIS students when socializing, join the club and find the answer!), and finally "food around the world"! Towards the middle of the year, club members will start to help out more in the events around the school related to culture, like International Day. At the end of the year, the club will work together to host two big events in the school, Global Scavenger Hunt (for middle school) and Global Unity Project Week (for high school). In the past, the scavenger hunt has included around 10 game stations, like chopstick challenge and song guessing game. Project Week includes trivia, games stations, country display, potlucks, and even field trips. Both events are 100% student-led and take both teamwork and leadership. Global Unity Project has happened for three consecutive years, and we take it as our mission to make it a special tradition at Basis Independent McLean.
