PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE REGISTERING! Since 1991, the Mesa Police Department's Citizen Police Academy (CPA) has provided members of our community with an inside look at law enforcement. The CPA is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the operations and resources of the Mesa Police Department. Participants will interact with police executives and veteran officers during the academy. The goal of the CPA is to provide a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement's role in our community. This academy is NOT the police recruit academy. The following areas of the Department may be covered: Patrol Districts Recruit Academy Crime Lab Homicide Gangs Street Crimes Range Day SWAT demos Motors Communications Defensive Tactics Mesa Family Advocacy Center Eligibility Requirements: 18 years of age or older Reside or work in the City of Mesa No prior felony arrests No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application A background clearance is conducted prior to class start date Upcoming Dates: The CPA is an eight (8) session academy held over the course of six (6) weeks. The classes will be held in various locations around the City of Mesa. Thursdays will be from 5:30-8:30PM and Saturday will be from 8AM - 5PM.
