Description
Take a guided tour and learn more about one of the first commercial coal mine operations in North America.
Learn about:
- One of the earliest railroads
- The need for transportation improvements
- The impact that coal mining had on the region in the 1700's and 1800's
- The concept of deep mining that was utilized
View the remains of the grove shaft and a reproduction of a headstock that once existed at the site.
Tour meets at amphitheater parking lot.
