Are you an adult string player who has always wanted to play in an ensemble, but was always a little hesitant? Did you ever feel the urge to make music with others, but you felt intimated? Well, now is your chance! The New Horizons Small Ensemble prepares adult students to play in a large ensemble in a friendly and support environment.
Intended for violinists, violists and cellists who are established beginners and immediate players, this ensemble complements individual instruction lessons and helps students learn the skills of ensemble playing. Students will learn two- and three-part repertoire as well as skills such as simultaneously listening to other instruments, music theory rudiments, articulation, and dynamics. Basically, students learn how to play well with others, making for the perfect stepping-stone on the path to playing in a larger ensemble.
