Learn about the challenges faced by those who once frequented the segregated portion of Pocahontas State Park and hear inspiring tales of resilience and community spirit. The group camping area was built in the 1930s by the CCC and used until the 1970s. It consisted of several cabins, a dining hall, administration building, and a lake with a swimming beach. Today, all that remains is the lake, a brick retaining wall, and some building foundations.
