Prerequisites: Minimum 2 years at the Intermediate level is mandatory. Students MUST be proficient in skippering and crewing across all points of sail without supervision. Students will be assessed on the first day of class by the instructors. If deemed necessary instructors will move students to a different level class if space is available (classes typically sell out) and/or refund tuition. Classes run Monday - Thursday from 1:30-4:30 and also a Friday Regatta from 11am - 2pm. Advanced class sail Laser Performance 420s purchased from the US Naval Academy and College of Charleston by Piscataqua Youth Sailing Association - PYSA (who partners with KPYC). PYSA supports the building of local high school teams. Examples of what this course will cover: Roll tacking/ gybing Boat speed tuning Starting strategy Tactics and reading the course Basic Right of Way Rules of Racing The goal is for each class to be comprised of 6 teams that practice starting, upwind and downwind match racing tactics Monday thru Thursday and then compete in a 5 to 7 race regatta every Friday with results posted at KPYC. Trophies will be awarded at the end of each session. Goal is to have the top 2 teams from each session compete at end of the year for the KPYC Hampton Cup Junior Championship.
