Description

Learn more about one of the first commercial coal mine operations in North America. Learn about one of the earliest railroads, the need for transportation improvements, the impact that coal mining had on the region in the 1700's and 1800's, and the concept of deep mining that was utilized. View the remains of the Grove Shaft and a reproduction of a headstock that once existed at the site.
