About this event
The National Lifeguard Instructor course provides candidates with an understanding of the principles and practices on which the National Lifeguard program is based. The course explores teaching approaches and techniques appropriate for National Lifeguard candidates. After successful completion of the course, National Lifeguard Instructors are certified to teach the National Lifeguard course in the option(s) they hold (i.e., National Lifeguard Instructors who hold National Lifeguard Pool may teach National Lifeguard Pool, etc.). Prerequisites: Lifesaving Instructors and National Lifeguard certification (neither need not be current). Note: This course is delivered in a blended learning method which includes online learning with an in-person practical application. Course Dates: DAY 1: Friday April 26, 2024 (5:00pm - 8:00pm) [Zoom] DAY 2: Saturday April 27, 2024 (9:00am - 6:00pm) [in person: Lifesaving Society Office, 400 Consumers Rd, North York] DAY 3: Sunday April 28, 2024 (2:00pm - 9:00pm) [Pool: Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, 875 Morningside Ave, Scarborough] Required Resources: - Instructor Manual - Canadian First Aid Manual - Alert Manual - Guide to Ontario Public Pools Regulation - National Lifeguard Award Guide (2022) - Teaching National Lifeguard USB Students will receive an email containing the pre-course assignment with login instructions approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the course.
