Adult Art Through Words Instructor: Patrick Gibson Session I: January 7 – February 4 Day: Tuesdays Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM 5 weeks (M) $110; (NM) $121 Students bring supplies (.pdf list on website) Come write with us at the Northville Art House. This class is designed for both artists and writers. We’ll draw inspiration from current exhibitions and our artistic surroundings to develop short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. Each class we’ll observe the Art House’s exhibits, mine personal writing ideas using helpful prompts and generate written drafts. Let’s get creative, both writing about art and capturing our own experiences through words, using encouragement from the colors, lighting, textures, and images. Each session will start with a discussion of writing elements, including flash, poetic form, and personal essay. The sessions will contain opportunity to share rough drafts aloud for helpful peer critique. If the class desires, we can do a reading for family and friends at the end. Bring pen and paper, a tablet, or laptop to write with. All skill levels welcome. Remember, everyone can write!
