Chine Colle Collage and Composition, Session I
Weehawken Ridgway- Cora Annex 145 N cora St Ridgway, CO 81432 Organized by Weehawken Creative ArtsAbout this event
Description
Join Ouida Touchon for a Chine Colle Collage workshop that takes an intuitive approach to collaging fragments of archival papers onto base sheets of heavy paper. In this session, each collage will serve as a lesson on compositional rules, such as vertical, horizontal, and diagonal orientations; below-horizon emphasis; and above-horizon emphasis.
Students will work at tables with barens, paste, and scissors to create their compositions. With a vast selection of paper fragments in various colors provided, there will be plenty of leeway regarding color and proportions.
By the end of the session, students will take home at least one collage representing each compositional rule they’ve explored.
Please note: Ouida will be offering a second session for students to further develop their skills in Chine Colle Collage, which can be registered for [here] (insert link). This follow-up workshop will build on the first, introducing fine cutting and tearing techniques. Additionally, students will learn the proper protocol for signing their artwork. While the second session builds on the first, it is a standalone workshop open to both beginners and new students.
